I upgraded to the latest version of IM. Now I cannot log in regardless of my connection settings. When I get the error message I do the troubleshoot and it says everything passed with all the servers. My internet connection works - I can access e-mail and websites with no problem. I've logged out of all Yahoo websites, cleared out my internet cache, exited all browser programs, turned off my firewall, rebooted, turned off the router for a few minutes and restarted it, uninstalled and reinstalled IM, cleared the DNS cache, renewed IP config (repair settings in XP network connections), have all service pack updates and updated Norton AV software. I use Firefox and keep it updated but also have IE 8 and all updates. I have a similar connection and configuration at work (DSL through a router to a local network) with Windows XP and upgraded there to the latest Yahoo IM and have not had any problems. I've re-set my password. I'm not an IT expert but I know a bit about computers, more than the average user. I cannot fix this and it is very frustrating. I can log into the web version of IM and can access chat from my yahoo e-mail box, but I prefer to use the stand alone version. I have two other computers at home connected to the same router and updated IM to version 10 and have no problems.
